    Plaquenil hot flashes

I've been taking Plaquenil since February and have not had any flashes. I never had them associated with plaquenil, but I think I might remember someone else asking a similar question here at some time about plaquenil and hot flashes. You could either call your pharmacist or check the list of side effects they list when you pick up your next script . Hot flashes can come from Lupus itself..I don't remember if that is a direct cause or if its the lupus playing with hormones that makes then happen.

I have recently been diagnosed with SLE which is affecting my brain and CNS along with many other symptoms. I am very tired, nauseated, light headed, have ringing in my ears, and have noticed lately am having a lot of hot flashes or at least that is what I call them I get a hot feeling all over expecially in my face, face turns red, sometimes start feeling bad all over. Hi all- I've been on Plaquenil 400 mg daily for just about two months now. Shortly after starting I noticed a marked increase in the number of hot flashes/night sweats and anything at any time can irritate the heck out of me. Excessive sweating, hot flashes, or extreme body temperature fluctuations are a frequent challenge for MyLupusTeam members. They can be a side effect of medications, a symptom of menopause, a consequence of lupus’ impact on the nervous system and hormones, or another condition.

I'd probably ask my rheumy about them next time I'm in if I were you. I had LOTS of hot flashes before my lupus became more controlled.

Systemic lupus erythematosus lupus is an autoimmune disease with symptoms and outcomes that can vary greatly, from mild joint and skin problems to life-threatening conditions affecting the heart, kidneys and/or nervous system. Menopausal symptoms. Applying wild yam cream to the skin for 3 months does not seem to relieve menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats. It also does not seem to affect levels of hormones that play a role in menopause. Plaquenil has "fever with or without chills" as a side-effect, but I don't have an elevated temperature about 1-2 degrees above normal. Cevimeline has "temperature sensation changes" listed as a rare side-effect, but I have no idea what that really means.
