You get more ACE2 receptors though if you smoke or have diabetes or if you lige a place with a lot of air pollution.https://gov/pmc/articles/PMC2911869/https://gov/pmc/articles/PMC1287568/I'm not a doctor so this is to be taken as medical advise or a reason to skip any precautions. I'm also certain the scientists will learn much more and perhaps change their views later.

For me it did not start so quickly. You need to build a therapeutic level for any real benefit. Sometimes that is how Sjogren's works. Symptoms seem to disappear for a few days and reappear. Plaquenil eventually helped my joint pain. The continued fatigue and other symptoms are related to my mctd so I am not the perfect judge for this. But, overall it has decreased the intensity of wicked palpitations, shortness of breath, joint pain, itching and frequent urination that I had with my flares. If any of them effect me now.are tolerable and as not concerning as they were in the past. So, I choose to believe that Plaquenil has changed this for me. Hydroxychloroquine along with 30 mg of Prednisone worked for me within 3 months and did a great job. However I had a side reaction- hallucination, so I came off the drug. Plaquenil did not work as well for me,it took about 10 weeks before I saw some effect but again I had a reaction- my fatigue got even worse and I could not stay awake.

I only write it, because reading this made me feel less nervous and it might help others too. You should also note that a slighter risk does not equate to immunity and that other health factors may make you more or less susceptible.

My doctor has prescribed Plaquenil. He did not give me much of an explanation about the med's side effects --- other then the possible and rare eye issues. I will certainly see my eye doctor-- and will do what's necessary. However, I have read anecdotal 'stories' on various chat sites that suggest that Plaquenil can cause major hair loss. YIKES. I have had RA for 10 years and have been on Plaquenil pretty much the whole time. Methotrexate did not work for me and made me very nauseous. I also take 5-10 mg prednisone and an injection of Humira every week. I have had no side effects from the Plaquenil. Prednisone is a mean drug however, I can tell you this as a nurse too but I have to. Plaquenil didn't work for me after 4 months of 200mg per day. When it was put up to 400mg daily it eventually worked after about another two and a half months. My rheumy suggested that I stop it for a month every year to give the body a rest. I can now stop it - without weaning off - and restart it a month later with no ill effects.

Trazodone Oral Route Before Using - Mayo Clinic Appropriate studies performed to date have not demonstrated geriatric-specific problems that would limit the usefulness of trazodone extended-release tablets in the elderly. However, elderly patients are more likely to have hyponatremia low sodium in the blood, which may require caution in patients receiving trazodone.

Treating Lupus with Anti-Malarial Drugs Johns Hopkins. Three anti-malarial drugs are prescribed for lupus symptoms. Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is the most commonly prescribed because it is generally believed to cause fewer side effects; chloroquine Aralen has a reputation for more serious side effects, but it may be prescribed in situations where hydroxychloroquine cannot be used.
