The usage of the drug says it is to suppress the immune system in the treatment of lupus. I thought steriods and drugs that suppress the immune system make treatment much slower. I don't really want to worry about my eyesight with plaq either. Although I have heard many on this forum have been helped by plaquanil but that wasn't the case for me. I ended up with a stevens/johnson reaction from it last year and was in the hospital for a week.

Jul 05, 2010 Hi Chris, welcome to this forum. Of course it is hard to say what the cause is of the increase of symptoms. But I remember I was also feeling a bit worse in the first weeks after I had started taking clarithromycin and hydroxychloroquine. How long to treat patients with Lyme remains an issue of controversy. With traditional antibiotic therapy, lasting 2-4 weeks, 10-20% of patients will have ongoing symptoms including fatigue, joint. I've been diagnosed with Lyme disease, Q fever, rickettsia and I've been battling this for years. I have unbearable joint pain and syncopal episodes. I am a nurse. I have to say that the best I feel is on Plaquenil and doxycycline, with steroids occasionally. I have a flare.

I learned that some people simply do not have a specific thing in their bodies to tolerate that drug and I am one of them. i am taking plaquenil with biaxin and I have to say for the firs time in a long time I have hope The herx is not great but that is from the biaxin or the combo not from just plaquenil. It took several months for me to recover from that.

  4. I've been on tetracycline, biaxin and plaquenil in pretty hefty doses for Lyme and the plaquenil was for my babs. It's also a great cyst-busting medication for those pesky spirochetes that ball up into these antibiotic resistent pleomorphic spheroplasts. So you'd be hitting two or three things at once with a doxy/plaquenil combination.

She said after 3 days of burbur detox I could try 1/2 tablet of plaquenil every other day, but if i start feeling worse to stop immediately. I've just read good and bad things regarding it and Lyme and coinfection treatment. Anyone have experience or know about plaquenil and what to expect? I'm getting nervous now. This is a reivew of how effective Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine sulfate is for Lyme disease and for what kind of people. The study is created by eHealthMe from 7 Plaquenil users and is updated continuously. Hydroxychloroquine is a Quinine-like medication that is easier to tolerate than the Quinine Sulfate, though Quinine Sulfate may be more effective. Side effects of clindamycin that make it hard to tolerate include nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and allergic-type reactions.

Hashimoto's Disease And TPO Antibodies - Dr. Izabella Wentz In Part 1 of this article, “How to Reduce Thyroid Antibodies“, I discussed why thyroid antibodies are so important as an early warning for Hashimoto’s, what their significance is in Hashimoto’s, how to test for them, and how to properly monitor them. In my view, knowing your antibody numbers early on is a better screening test than knowing your TSH level.
